Chinese commercial mining vehicles manufacturer Keshi has placed an order with US-based UQM Technologies for explosion-proof E-drive systems.
The system includes UQM’s PowerPhase 950T and is an integral part of the vehicle application for the mining industry in China.
By eliminating dangerous diesel emissions, the product is intended to improve mine operational safety conditions for workers.
The explosion-proof E-drive systems order is valued at $1.2m, with shipments set to take place this year.
UQM noted that Keshi plans to move forward with its strategy for final assembly and test in China under the company’s latest cooperation agreement for explosion-proof electric propulsion systems in the country.
UQM Technologies president and CEO Joe Mitchell said: “The development work between our teams has been significant, and we are very pleased that Keshi now seems poised to support and grow the commercial electric mining vehicle market in China.
