Australia-based exploration company Metals of Africa (MTA) has revealed that assay results from drilling at the Rio Mazoe lead-zinc-silver project continue to confirm the existence of Broken Hill type (BHT) mineralisation.
The company successfully completed a drilling programme for a total of 1719.96m at the Rulio prospect, with five holes, intersecting high-grades of lead, zinc and copper mineralisation.
Drilling also served to reaffirm the company’s BHT exploration model at the project.
Four of five holes drilled intersected an alteration type that was previously unseen and is thought to be proximal to mineralisation.
Following the positive results of the 2013 drill programme, which confirmed the existence of a BHT system at the Rulio Prospect, further exploration is planned this year in a bid to test for a potential world-class exploration target.
As primary minerals, metal sulphides were noted in the alteration rocks, which in turn have been noted as secondary concentrations in veins and breccia zones indicating a metal-rich environment during formation.

By GlobalDataAccording to the company, drilling and mapping is said to indicate a buried synform structure as a favourable host for BHT mineralisation.
BHT alteration has also been identified at the nearby Meque prospect.
Metals of Africa believes that, if the two systems can be linked, the magnitude of the Rio Mazoe project will be increased significantly.
