July 2022 has seen a decrease of 1.63% in the overall hiring activity when compared with June 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 3.19% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in July 2022, registering an increase of 0.24% over the last three-month average share.
Database and Network Administrators and Architects Occupations leads by classification in July 2022
Database and Network Administrators and Architects Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 35.92% in July 2022, a 1.92% drop over the previous month. Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers came in next, claiming a share of 28.17% in July 2022, marking a 25.93% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 14.08% in July 2022, a 16.67% drop from June 2022.

Top five mining companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in July 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 8.06% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s mining industry during July 2022 over previous month.
Freeport-McMoRan posted 17 IT jobs in July 2022 and registered an increase of 30.77% over the previous month, followed by Teck Coal with 14 jobs and a 26.32% drop. Nucor with 13 IT jobs and Aditya Birla Management Corp with 12 jobs, recorded a 30% rise and a 40% drop, respectively, while ThyssenKrupp recorded a flat growth with 11 job postings during July 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s mining industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s mining industry IT hiring activity with a 75.35% share in July 2022, a 13.01% decrease over June 2022. Canada featured next with a 23.24% share, down 26.67% over the previous month. France recorded a 0.7% share, a flat growth compared with June 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 63.38%, down by 5.26% from June 2022. Mid Level positions with a 21.13% share, registered a decline of 34.78% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 14.08% share, down 23.08% over June 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 1.41%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
